Following rumors of a possible breakup, Jennifer Lopez & Alex Rodriguez made it official Thursday in a statement first released on the Today Show claiming they are “better as friends”.
Despite rumors of infidelity regarding A-Rod and reality star, Madison LeCroy, Daily Mail reports that sources close to the couple indicated the split followed problems over a long period of time leading to a breakup.

Despite the couple seeming close on their most recent family trip to the Dominican Republic, it's speculated trust issues finally tore them apart shortly thereafter.
Lopez's statement went on to say, "We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects. We wish the best for each other and one another's children. Out of respect for them, the only comment we say is thank you to everyone who has sent kind words and support."
Lopez bolstered the finality of their engagement when she liked a post on Instagram® that, among other things, made a general reference regarding those in a relationship who mistreat the ones they say they love.
Rumor has it, he tried to make it work
On Wednesday night, Rodriguez took to Instagram® with what appeared to be a video tribute to the good times the couple once shared. It ended with a picture of "Jennifer & Alex" written inside a heart, sketched in the sand. Rumors are circulating on social media, entertainment blogs and news sites that he wanted to make her happy and the recent trip to the Dominican Republic was possibly part of that effort.
The couple has been together since 2017 and engaged for two years. While the couple denied earlier reports of a possible split in a joint statement issued in March, problems seemed to plague the couple who postponed their wedding on more than one occasion, reportedly due to COVID-19.
Lopez was most recently divorced from singer Marc Anthony in June 2014 after 10 years of marriage, to include 3 of those 10 years separated. They have two children together, Emme and Max.
Despite their divorce taking several years to finalize, it's reported they are still on good terms. She has been married a total of 3 times prior to Rodriguez and ended an engagement to A-lister Ben Affleck in 2004, only months before she married Anthony.
Rodriguez was divorced one time prior to Lopez, in 2008. He was married 6 years to Cynthia Scurtis. They have two children together, Ella and Natasha.
