It's never easy to find the good following something that sets you back in your life.  Of course, you'll want to pick yourself up and pull yourself back together.

But until you find it, that one good thing that develops or reemerges following hard times, life may seem challenging and at times achieving personal happiness, hopeless.

Coming to terms with the bad

No need to clean out all the clutter

Some may tell you that before you find the good in your life, you will need to clear out all the bad.  While it's true, before you embark on some aspects of your journey, some self-reflection and acceptance of certain changes are important.  But a totally clean slate is not necessary to begin anew.

Add good while letting go of the bad

In fact, beginning a new path towards personal happiness and fulfillment is easier when you grab hold the hand of your future simultaneous to breaking free of chains to the past.  In doing so, you will more easily fill your life with new or renewed interests that distract you from occurrences for which there is no immediate remedy.

What holds us back?

We all have them.  Those nagging voices in our head that tell us we can't be anything more than who we were yesterday or are today. These are self-defeating fears that tell us we can't improve or grow past who we've always been.  Some of us may not realize these roadblocks directly, but still find ourselves stuck, unable to achieve our fullest potential and personal fulfillment.

After a divorce or breakup, a cloud of grey easily falls upon most of us and in it are our fears, doubts and excuses that rain heavy upon us whenever we begin to plant anything in our life that may lead us to look towards sunny days.

Get stronger with adversity

While this rain casts dismal dispersions upon our hopes for betterment, we must not let it overshadow our strengths to find those good things that provide a better life for ourselves and those we love.  The stronger we become in doing so, the more that rain becomes part of our plan for renewed life and personal growth.  It has the potential to hydrate our perseverance, develop our strengths and capable spirit, all of which lead us towards personal success.

Finding the good

Like so many things in one's life, the good things are often right in front of us, disguised in our everyday happenings, our hopes, dreams or even our fears and loss.

Consumed with negative energy

We don't really need to work hard to find our life's journey.  Much of it just happens.  Some of it good, some bad-

However, the negativity in our lives, the thunder and lightning on our journey, often gains more of our attention than that of the positive.  This may be why many of us remain fixated on our pain, loss and fear more than the good from overcoming it.

Our path to happiness may be so overshadowed by such storms, we cannot realize that our journey is often less a march to a sunnier climate, rather a discovery of what we can do amidst our adversity to quiet the storms of pain within us rather than run from them.  In doing so, we will be more apt to focus on moving forward in the right direction based on clear objects and goals rather than impulsive reactions to negative events and energy.

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger

If you can work alongside your grief, find inspiration in overpowering it and help others who are also hurting from similar experiences, you will discover courage and resilience no storm can destroy.

Seek betterment, set goals, act with intention

Letting go of the problems from your past will only get you so far.  Finding purpose, that one good thing can produce a bridge to what comes next.  It can provide closure to the doors to the past that no longer lead you in the right direction and slowly open pathways to the future.

When and where

One of the biggest stumbling blocks on your journey to happiness is often more than the discovery of your purpose, rather the strength to continue it.  It's easy to find inspiration in many things during a period of sadness or loss.  But the actions necessary to carry through with every stage of personal development and activities necessary to make your dreams a reality are the true makings of greatness.

Temporary reinforcements

Divorce, loss of a loved one or other major life change can invoke a feeling of falling backwards off a high cliff into an abyss of the unknown.  It's natural to grab onto anything you can to stop the fall, not all of it being a long-lasting, positive reinforcement in your life.

However, some of what you grab hold may slow your fall enough to give you time to find greater stability and positivity through uncertain times.  These new additions such as hobbies, relaxation techniques, daily rituals may not continue throughout the entirety of your journey.  They may not be that one good thing.  But do not fear letting go of these braces.  They should not be considered part of your loss rather new beginnings of your journey.

You found the good, now what?

Once you find your long-term objective and aspirations, you will know, and you must not give up.  It will not always be easy as some days will send more rain, more doubts than assurances.  But, slowly as the storm's lift day-after-day, you will find your morning glory.

You will know that without those storms you would never have discovered what you were always meant to achieve.  That one good thing was not just what you accomplished rather your ability to overcome all that formerly prevented it.

It's time to grab hold, while letting go and know when to hold on to the right things that have the power to change your life.  This will be what makes you more than who you are today!  This has the power to become your life's purpose.  While it may not justify your loss or pain, it has the power to expel much of it so that you will find the dawn following the darkness!
