Featuring a new cocktail, its recipe and a brief history of the popular drink!

August 24, 2021 featured cocktail...

Strawberries and Cream SPLASH!

Directions:

Makes 8 super simple end of summer cocktails

Chill glasses:

Rinse tall rocks glasses or highball glasses and place in freezer until ready to serve or fill glass with ice water while preparing cocktail.

Pitcher:

Fill up to half of a large pitcher with ice.  Core and cut up 10 strawberries and place atop ice. Pour a pint of vodka and 4 cans/bottles of any fruit flavored sparkling water (e.g. AHA or Aldi Sparkling FROST).  Mint leaves optional.  Stir.

In a chilled glass pour 3/4 of glass with strained contents from pitcher.  Drop 2 ice cubes and then one scoop of strawberry ice cream in glass. Splash with lemon lime soda like Sprite® or 7UP®.  Garnish glass with one strawberry (cut slit in center of berry and hinge on glass) with optional mint leaf.

Non-Alcoholic

Keep the above recipe but substitute Ritual Rum Alternative for the vodka and keep the rest of the recipe the same.

History

This month's cocktail is a DMK original developed by a divorced mom on a tight budget for an end of summer barbeque she hosted for a few friends and family.  This signature cocktail was based on the oh! so popular hard seltzers like White Claw® and Vizzy® but with a sweet (lemon lime soda splash) and creamy edge (strawberry ice cream) making it a perfect cocktail for parties, poolside or just relaxing on a warm, late summer afternoon.

The best thing about this cocktail is that you can make it stronger, sweeter, fruitier or smoother depending on your own adjustment to the ingredients.

Give Truly® and the others a run for their money and save a bundle while you're at it!  This cocktail is considerably cheaper than buying a few cases of hard seltzer for a party and your guests will think you're a genius mixologist. Enjoy!

Last featured cocktail was the Strawberry Mojito

As always drink responsibly or try the non-alcoholic versions!

The best times in life aren't spent worrying over the past. They are spent living in the moment with great friends and family. So, get out there and enjoy the season!  Just don't overdo it.  Make or order this featured cocktail with or without alcohol as a perfect accent to a holiday event or a night out on the town!
